Languages we can offer
In and around Mangaluru many people grow up speaking Tulu at home and use Kannada, English or Hindi outside it, often within a single conversation. Dr. Samarth S Shetty lists Tulu, Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and English, and he is the Tulu-speaking psychiatrist on our team. Dr. Divya Gurunathan and Dr. Pooja Rani also list Kannada, and all three are shown below. Only one of them speaks Tulu, so we cannot promise a particular time before your free call. We will tell you plainly what is available, and if the timing does not suit you, we will explain the other options, including Kannada or English.

Living and working in Mangaluru
- Several languages in one household. Families in the Mangaluru area often move between Tulu, Kannada and English, and young people may use different languages with grandparents, friends and teachers. The language in which a feeling first makes sense is not always the language of the school or the clinic. Tell us on your free call which one you would like to start with, and you can change as you go.
- Students and young people. Mangaluru has many colleges, and many students live in hostels or rented rooms away from their families. Exam pressure, homesickness, sleep trouble and loneliness are common reasons for seeking help. A video consultation can be done from your room, and your psychiatrist can continue to see you when you are back home for holidays.
- Privacy in a close community. In smaller communities, many people know each other, and some worry about being seen at a clinic. Online care from a private room lets you decide who knows. Consultations are confidential, and our team does not contact your family without your agreement, except in rare situations where someone's safety is at serious risk.
- Emergency care. Mindly is not an emergency service. If you or someone else in Mangaluru is in immediate danger, call 112 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department. For free support at any hour, Tele-MANAS (14416) is a national helpline that works from anywhere in the country, including Karnataka.
Concerns people in Mangaluru bring
The concerns below are among those our psychiatrists see most often from people across India. Each page explains the signs, how it is assessed and what support can look like.
How a Tulu, Kannada or English consultation works
Everything begins with a free call, not a booking form. A member of our team asks what has been troubling you, how long it has gone on, and whether Tulu, Kannada, Hindi or English would feel most natural, then fixes a slot with one of the three psychiatrists above. On the day you join a video link from your phone. Expect questions about mood, sleep, appetite, work or college, and any illnesses in the family. By the end the doctor will say in ordinary words what they think is going on and lay out the choices, which could be a prescription, sessions with a psychologist, or both. Under the 2020 telemedicine rules some medicines cannot be started without a physical examination, and you will be told if that applies.

Tests, follow-ups and your family doctor
Should your psychiatrist want a blood test or an ECG first, a lab in Mangaluru can do it and you can show the report on screen. Mention diabetes, thyroid trouble, epilepsy or heart disease to every doctor who treats you, since several psychiatric medicines interact with them. Early on, reviews tend to come every two to four weeks and are brief. If an admission or a face-to-face examination turns out to be necessary, the psychiatrist will explain why and help you arrange it near home.
